What is an e-Learning day?

An e-Learning day is used in place of a regular school day.  On an e-Learning day students will complete assignments at home instead of at school.  E-Learning days would most often be used when school is canceled due to an unplanned situation, like bad weather, but could also be used for a planned situation should the district choose.  For the full document click here.

COVID- 19 OUTBREAK DISTANCE LEARNING PLAN DOCUMENT - UPDATED 5/4/2020

*Note: The following information mostly pertains to standard e-Learning days, not Distance Learning Days as are being used in the Spring of 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and  the 2020-2021 School Year.

Menahga Public School District will be utilizing distance learning days, called e-Learning days, beginning in the 2019-20 school year. E-Learning days refer to a school day when, instead of carrying out school in a building or classroom, students engage in learning activities outside of the school building. These days may be held in the event of unplanned school closures due to emergency situations such as severe weather. Students can work before, during, or after school hours to complete this work at home. They will have two days past the distance learning day to return their work to school. If work is not returned this will be marked as an unexcused absence. Your child’s teacher will be available by email from 10:00 a.m. until 3:15 p.m.  We will check our communications regularly throughout the day to make sure we can answer any questions.

Learning activities for all students in grades K-4 will be sent home in a folder in the middle of January. This information will also be posted on the school website. These activities, developed by your child’s teacher, provide academic progress for students, continue classroom instruction, and provide an accountable means for students to demonstrate their learning. Students will be required to turn in activity boards and teachers will be required to check them for completion.

Students in grades 5-12 will need to check Infinite Campus for instructions on how to complete their assignments.  Students should be well accustomed to accessing and submitting assignments through Infinite Campus.

Other information:

  • Due dates will be flexible to accommodate students’ inability to complete assignments during that day. Two days will be given after the e-Learning day to complete the work. If a student was not able to have access to a device or the internet on this day they can obtain a copy of the assignment before or on the next regular school day. They will have two days to complete the work after the E-Learning Day.
  • Students with special needs or circumstances may face unique challenges while performing academic tasks. Provisions and accommodations will be made for individual needs on a case by case basis.

Thank you for partnering with us as we strive to provide meaningful, Minnesota State Standards-aligned, learning activities for our students. As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
