Wellness Committee Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, August 28, 2018 - 4:00 p.m.

High School Media Center

Attendance: Alicia Lang - WPH, Erica Keppers - WPH, Stephanie Ness, Katie Smith, Ann Wothe, Colleen Niska, Jeannie Mayer, Shanna Kruft, Jessie Wattenhofer

1. Review minutes from May 2018 meeting.

a. Dietary - No update

b. Physical Education -
i.  Parents for healthy kids grant - order playground equipment and supplies for taste tests.
  1. Taste Tests every other month, during monthly morning assembly for K-4 students, starting in October. Budget $100 for taste tests in October and December out of the current $650 grant budget. We will receive the second half of the grant ($350) in December 2018. Discuss first taste test activity during September meeting.
  2. Remaining $550 will be used to order an equipment cart and various small equipment for the playground such as basketballs, jump ropes, volleyballs.
  3. Katie Smith will order cart and equipment as soon as possible.
  4. Cart and equipment will be utilized by 1-5 grades during recess, stored in closet near middle school entrance when not in use.
ii.  Operation Round-Up grant - not chosen as recipient.
c. Health Office/Nurse - No updates
d. Outside Agencies/Individuals
i. Erica and Alicia will send information regarding additional SHIP grant opportunities. New SHIP cycle begins in November.
